Food poisoning is caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, toxins and is one of the most serious diseases to hit people. The most common viruses causing intoxications are staph, e. coli and salmonella. The pain is even more acute in young children, as their immune systems are not strong enough to fight against these pests and also because children do not have much sense of what should and shouldn't eat. There are also other symptoms like very weak pulse or fast, cold, pale, clammy skin, shallow breathing, chest pain, temperature, dry mouth, sticky saliva, dizziness, fatigue, etc.

If someone close to you complain about these problems, you should call a doctor at once. Most people do not take seriously the food poisoning, and so suffer more; salt also mortality rate.

When poisoning strikes, make the victim have plenty of water or some hydrating solution. If the child is concerned, take him or her to the pediatrician immediately especially if vomits or starts showing signs of dehydration. In the case of bloody diarrhea, you should not give any anti-diarrheal medications the child as he or she can make you sicker. Try to keep him or her calm and distract him or her by ensuring that neither he or she or anyone around him or her panic. Severe intoxication may require hospitalization. So be prepared for this as well.
